It has recently been announced there is currently a global shortage of the hepatitis B vaccine due to problems with the manufacturing process. The manufacturers anticipate there will be a period of delay or unavailability of the hepatitis B vaccine until early 2018.
The risk of catching Hepatitis B in the UK is very low. However, it is advised that anyone travelling overseas to areas of the world where there is a high risk of contracting hepatitis B such as East Asia and Sub Saharan Africa to plan well ahead and seek medical advice at their earliest convenience.
