Over 20 wind jobs predicted following AIS Survivex careers event

Wind services company, SMC is expected to offer jobs to more than 20 people following its pop-up recruitment event at AIS Survivex.

The event was an overwhelming success attracting 100+ aspiring and experienced wind technicians with skills such as rigging, slinging and electrical and mechanical expertise.

All were interviewed by the SMC team and introduced to the company’s values, ethos, and upcoming opportunities to work for the business...

SMC is a fast-growing company providing specialist project services and highly skilled personnel to the renewables industry. The company has several high-profile global wind projects in the pipeline and is looking for new fresh talent to help deliver these.

John Orrock, Inspection Manager at SMC said:

“We are seeing unprecedented demand for our services globally and, as a result, have dozens of potential job opportunities on offer for the right people. As well as experienced wind technicians, we are looking for those newly qualified with the right attitude and transferable skills.

“This is the first recruitment event of its type that we have attended and we have been extremely impressed with the number of people coming along and overall quality of candidates.

“We will be spending the next few weeks arranging a series of follow-up interviews with the candidates to establish where they might best fit our operations and, based on what we have seen so far, I fully anticipate a strong contingent of new recruits joining our team as we move into the summer.”

Charlie Marshall from North Tyneside has just finished his latest contract in the wind sector and is looking for his next opportunity...

He said: “I’ve worked in the wind sector for the past 12 months and really enjoy it. My last contract finished recently so I’m now looking for a full-time job and would love to work for SMC. Events like this are great for meeting recruiters face-to-face so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this opportunity leads to a job.”

Charlie Guthrie, Head of Renewables at AIS Survivex, said:

“We have worked closely with SMC for several years to deliver the company’s training requirements. It’s great to now be able to help the company look for new wind talent. Many of the people who turned up at the event were trained by us so we can vouch for their competencies and safety-first mentality.

“We wish everyone the very best of luck in their search for a wind job and assure SMC of our continued support in the provision of skills training for their global workforce.”
