Picture perfect workplace competition winner claims “life-changing” prize

Oil and gas roughneck Liam Wright is swapping oilfields for windfarms thanks to his photography skills and AIS Survivex’s #pictureperfectworkplace competition.

34-year-old Liam from Windemere was the winner in the oil and gas category of our photography competition, which was voted for by the public. Liam’s image of a stunning North Sea sunset illuminating a Jack Up rig close to shore received hundreds of likes on Instagram and was the overwhelming favourite.

The keen photographer took the shot on his Samsung Galaxy phone after the spectacular light and colours of the sunset caught his eye.

Liam’s winning competition prize was a free training course and he plumped for our GWO Ultimate Wind Training package, which includes all the mandatory certificates required to work in the global wind industry.

Liam said:

“I was thrilled to win the AIS Survivex photography competition. For some time now, I’ve had the dream of working in the wind industry but could never justify the cash to pay for training. Now I don’t need to and it feels amazing.

“Once I finish my course, I’m aiming to look for a job in wind and I’m hoping my previous experience in offshore oil and gas will stand me in good stead.

“I can’t wait to step foot on my first wind turbine. Massive thanks to AIS Survivex in helping me make this happen.

“Entering and winning the #pictureperfectworkplace competition is going to change my life for the better!”
