We have many candidates that seek guidance on how to take steps to become an Offshore Crane Operator.

Progression of an Offshore Crane Operator requires individuals to not only attend training courses, they also need to gain hands-on experience and gradually develop competencies. Our advice at Survivex is to start with training, build experience and perform competently.

 

Assistant Crane Operator

Job Role

Responsible for the operation and operator level maintenance of cranes. Assist the crew and Crane Operator in day-to-day lifting operations. In addition to their main duties they also assist in helicopter operations.

How do I get there?

Candidates normally start off their career as Roustabouts/Deck Crew to allow them to gain knowledge and develop competencies. Some candidates may have previous experience with cranes from other industries.

Crane Operator

Job Role

Responsible for the operation and operator level maintenance of cranes. Management of deck crew. Supervision of all activities and ensuring all lifts are completed safely. Delivery of on the job lifting operations training. Also, the Crane Operator will take on the role of Helicopter Landing Officer during helicopter operations.

How do I get there?

Most Crane Operators are promoted from Assistant Crane Operators after gaining numerous years of experience offshore.

 

 

All candidates that attend our Offshore Crane Operator Stages 1, 2, 3 or 4 courses receive supporting training and competency materials to support their ongoing professional development to becoming an Offshore Crane operator. We have Offshore Crane Operator Stage 1 & 2 scheduled regularly at our training centre in Aberdeen. Offshore Crane Operator Stages 3 & 4 can be booked to be delivered at client premises or any offshore location.
