Offshore workers often need help and advice when working away from home and energy services consortium, PBS is making sure its offshore teams have the very best support thanks to AIS Survivex.
PBS train its HR Advisors in offshore health and safety enabling them to support colleagues offshore and to give them a better understanding of the offshore environment.
The latest members of Team PBS to successfully complete their OPITO BOSIET certificate at AIS Survivex are HR Advisors, Daisy Philp and Hannah Brooks.
With this certification, both Daisy and Hannah are qualified to visit their offshore teams, providing face-to-face support and advice as required.
For 30-year-old Daisy, from Keith, this was her very first BOSIET course and her first taste of the offshore environment.
Daisy said:
“My background is customer care so when I joined the HR team at PBS in January, I had very little experience of the offshore energy sector. Completing my BOSIET at AIS Survivex was an amazing experience – I loved every minute!
“The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and integrated us well into the rest of the group. As the only women on the course, it could have been a very intimidating experience but that certainly wasn’t the case thanks to the instructors making us all feel comfortable. In fact, I really enjoyed mixing with the other delegates as they were from lots of diverse backgrounds and disciplines so it helped improve my overall knowledge of the offshore industry. The way the course content was delivered by the instructors was also very engaging and never boring.
“Successfully passing the course has given me a much greater understanding of the highly regulated working conditions offshore workers face and this will undoubtedly help me when dealing with offshore colleagues. I’ve recently been on my first offshore trip to visit some of the 80+ PBS workforce that I look after across seven offshore Assets throughout the North Sea.
“The training really prepares you for the experience, and clearly that’s why it is critical for everyone working offshore.”
