According to the ECITB’s recent Workforce Census, the UK oil and gas sector headcount is on course to exceed pre-pandemic levels by almost 10% over the next year alone.
This is great news for the sector but reports also suggest skills shortages will become one of the industry’s biggest challenges.
There is also the well documented issue of an ageing workforce. The bulk of people working in oil and gas are aged between 30 and 49 (54%) and more than a third of employees are over 50.
