Judges have been blown-away by the standard of entry to our ‘selfie at work’ photography competition: #PicturePerfectWorkface – which follows on from the success of last year’s inaugural #PicturePerfectWorkplace contest.
With more than 200 entries the standard of competition is incredibly stiff, however our panel of judges have now selected our grand finalists in each of our 4 categories of oil and gas, wind, marine, and construction.
The victor of each category will win the refresher, upskilling or even cross-sector training course or package of their choosing – a prize potentially worth thousands of pounds each!

Oil & Gas finalists
Kay Bingham
Radio Op Kay captured this beautiful shot of her taking a dip between shifts in Curaçao.
We loved the dreamy nature of this one and felt it really captured the unexpected beauty of the sector.
Chris Miller
Chris told us himself how he “loves a selfie” and we think that certainly shows in this shot! In our most popular category this early entry was a front-runner from the start with it’s bright contrasting colours and Chris’s ‘cheeky chappy’ expression winning the judges over.
Wind finalists
Paul Allen
Don’t look down…
Paul took this breath-taking shot on his very first blade repair job following GWO training with AIS Survivex earlier in the year.
We saw lots of incredible images of delegates working high up on wind turbines, but this one really stood out for highlighting the sheer scale of the turbine and impressive heights technicians operate at…
Terence Jordan
Terence submitted several shots to our selfie competition and in every single one his beaming smile jumped right off the page.
We chose this unassuming image due to its sense of comradery and the subtlety of the reflected environment captured in the glasses.
Terence clearly enjoys what he does, and it shows.
Marine finalists
James Langdale
Another early frontrunner – James’ selfie was taken in the dark onboard an FPSO in Israel.
We didn’t receive many night-time shots and were particularly impressed with how he managed to keep both himself and vessel in such sharp focus despite the low light. Well done, James!
Jakub Zieba
As there was no limit on number of entries, Jakub impressively sent us one for every category.
His marine entry really stood out though, with its bold, atmospheric colours and excellent framing of the ship in the background.
Construction finalists
Darren Stewart
Darren wowed the judges with this shot of him working against a backdrop of the stunning London skyline whilst on time off from his job in the North Sea.
We loved how this image championed how skills like rope access can be applied across multiple sectors – from oil and gas to construction.
We also love the reflection mirrored in polished glass at the front of the skyscraper.
Gregor Couper
Gregor’s was another photograph that stood out early on.
A Rope Access Welder from Ullapool, multi-skilled Gregor impressed with an unusual composition giving us a rare up-close look at the true scale of this heavy industrial working environment, and a delighted expression to boot.
